Medtronic’s Inceptiv Spinal Cord Stimulator with Closed-Loop Sensing Receives CE Mark for Chronic Pain

- The company received CE mark approval for Inceptiv SCS, a closed-loop, rechargeable SCS to treat chronic pain. Inceptiv, the only SCS system in the EU offering both full-body 1.5T & 3T MRI access is designed to sense biological signals & adjust the stimulation from moment to moment as per the requirement, ensuring that therapy aligns smoothly with the motions of daily life
- Inceptiv senses the body’s neural response to stimulation 50 times every second, all day. Inceptiv uses closed-loop capability with ECAPs to react to signals along the spinal cord
- The clinical study showed that 9 of 10 patients preferred the closed-loop option to fixed-output stimulation. The system will be commercially available in the coming months in the EU but not approved for sale or distribution in the US
